What We're Building
LinkUsToday is a completely free link in bio page that you actually own and control. No forced templates, no watermark and no paywall separating you from a page that looks like you. This is what we're building and why we got angry enough to build it.
When did it start costing money to express yourself?
When did it become acceptable that digital tools would bleed your wallet and your data at the same time? Nobody voted for this. But it happened, slowly and quietly, in updates after updates, until it became normal.
Here at LinkUsToday we stand against the current age of websites. We oppose the popup that demands your email address without even letting you read one sentence. We stand against the cookie banner, that hides an impossible amount of legitimate interest partners under a grey button. We say 'no' to free plan, which is 'free' the same way a fishing hook is 'free'.
You know the drill. You sign up. And yes, it really is fun for the first week or two. Until the font you picked is 'Pro'. The color picker is 'Pro'. Removing their logo is 'Pro'. Seeing who clicked your links is 'Pro'. There's the number. Sitting in a popup you didn't ask for: $9.99 a month to be allowed to look like yourself on the internet.
Ten dollars a month is pocket change to the people selling it and real money for many of the people paying for it. This is what bugs us about it. A kid publishing their first mixtape pays the same price for their own identity as a company with a full-time marketing department.
To be perfectly clear: screw you and your disgusting data collection machine. Screw the popup that appears the second someone wants to change the background color. Screw the 'nice' email 'updating' the pricing plans while moving something they already have behind a credit card number. Screw the dashboard which watches when a sixteen-year-old wakes up and then sells it to a company which will never know his name.
We hope your churn rate is everything you deserve. We hope that everyone you nickel and dimed will log out on the same day, discover that they can't export a thing, since you didn't even bother building the button, recreate somewhere better and forget your name inside a week. We hope that the growth chart you show investors becomes flat on the very day somebody reads your privacy policy out loud on the internet.
You have built nothing. You have written nothing. You haven't made a friend, a song, a drawing or a client for anyone. You have rented people a box for their links, marked your logo on it, watched from inside it and had the balls to call that a service.
Expressing yourself should be free. That's the concept. Everything below is us holding that promise.
What we're making instead
One page. Yours. Nobody's logo on it but yours.
- Free and actually free. Not a trial, not a 'free' service that has our name stamped in your corner. The core product is free and it stays that way.
- No forced templates. Blank canvas or pre-set, your choice. Colors, typography, margins, backgrounds, button styles, layouts. If you can imagine it, you should be able to make it.
- Your own custom CSS, if you need it. Two-minute setup if you want easy. Unrestricted control underneath, if you want.
- Unlimited links. We're not going to count to five and ask for a card afterwards.
- No ads on your page. Ever. Your audience isn't our inventory.
- Your data leaves with you. You can export your page and its statistics any time you want. Leaving should be as easy as arriving.
"Free", the honest version
All free products get paid for in some way or another. And you have the right to know how before you spend weeks and months building your online presence on top of one. So here it is, with nothing left to hide. We don't collect or sell your data. We're not running ads on your page. We're not going to start.
The money will come from the paid tier for things which actually cost us money or only relevant for larger accounts. Custom domains. In-depth analytics. Team access. Things like that.
And everything from the list above remains free. If that ever changes, you'll see it here first, written in plain language, ahead of time, and not in a footnote added to the pricing page late in the night.
Where we are right now
We're in early stages. You're getting the truth instead of a made-up progress bar.
No release date because we would just move it and then you wouldn't believe anything else on this page anymore. What we will do is update that table every single time a row changes.
Want in early?
We are letting a small select group of people try it before the public beta. Mainly to break things and tell us what's missing, loudly. If you feel that describes you or you simply want to see what we have so far, drop us an email. A real person reads it, and that real person is us.
Thanks for taking the time to read this far. Go and make something that looks like you.
